How is TooBig3D different from Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Orca, or Cura?
Those slicers are excellent at converting a print-ready model into G-code. TooBig3D handles the prep step before that: splitting oversized models, adding alignment pegs, labeling parts, repairing mesh issues, planning seams, and exporting organized files that your slicer can open.
Which slicers can open my TooBig3D exports?
TooBig3D exports standard STL and 3MF-style workflows that open in Bambu Studio, Orca Slicer, PrusaSlicer, Cura, and other slicers that accept STL or 3MF files. Multi-part exports are organized so you can keep using the slicer you already trust.
Do I need to install anything?
No. TooBig3D is browser-based — no desktop installer, no admin rights, no driver setup, and no background service on your computer. Upload a mesh, prepare it in the web app, then download print-ready parts for your slicer.
Can TooBig3D guarantee a successful print?
No software can guarantee a print. TooBig3D helps catch common issues and prepare cleaner exports, but you still need to review slicer previews, material settings, supports, temperatures, bed adhesion, and printer limits before sending a job.
What is a model credit?
Credits are spent on model operations that use our compute pipeline. Slicing a 3D model spends one credit. AI generation also spends credits (most text-to-3D and image-to-3D runs cost 1 credit; high-quality runs cost 3 and texture refines cost 2). Uploading, previewing, and transforming models is always free — credits are only spent when you actually run a slice or AI generation.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime and keep paid features through the end of your billing cycle. After that, your account automatically returns to Free.
How does the launch trial work?
Free includes enough credits and core features to test your real workflow before paying. Once you need higher throughput or premium tools, Hobbyist, Maker Pro, and Lifetime provide clear upgrade paths without hidden fees.
How do you prevent free-tier abuse?
We cap free usage with account-level credits and operational limits, then enforce billing controls on paid upgrades. That combination keeps trial access fair while reducing repeat-account abuse and protecting capacity for paying users.
Do you offer annual or one-time billing?
Yes — Maker Pro is available monthly or annually (annual is shown with the billing toggle), and we also offer one-time options (Hobbyist and Lifetime).
What file formats are supported?
We support STL, OBJ, PLY, and 3MF files. Export is available in STL format and as a ZIP bundle for multi-part models.
What are the file size limits?
Free: up to 1 GB/file. Hobbyist, Maker Pro, and Lifetime: up to 2 GB/file during the public pilot. Higher tiers add credits, retention, storage, and premium workflow features.
Do unused credits roll over?
Yes. Maker Pro includes monthly credits with rollover for up to 2 months as long as your subscription stays active. Hobbyist credits are one-time and never expire.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure payment processor, Stripe.
How does the AI work? Is my data safe?
AI powers natural language commands and smart suggestions. Uploaded meshes and AI-generated outputs (text-to-3D and image-to-3D) share the same retention by plan: Free 7 days, Hobbyist 30 days, Maker Pro 90 days, Lifetime 365 days. Expired files are permanently purged within 24 hours. Private uploads are not used to train public models by default; no public model-training opt-in control is available in the current implementation.
How long are uploaded meshes retained by plan?
Retention by plan: Free 7 days, Hobbyist 30 days, Maker Pro 90 days, Lifetime 365 days. After your window ends, files are queued for deletion and permanently purged within 24 hours.
How long are AI-generated outputs kept?
AI-generated outputs (text-to-3D and image-to-3D models produced inside TooBig3D) follow the same per-plan retention windows as uploaded meshes: Free 7 days, Hobbyist 30 days, Maker Pro 90 days, Lifetime 365 days, then purge on the same 24-hour cycle. Re-export the result locally if you want to keep it beyond your plan window.
When are expired files deleted?
After your retention window ends, files are queued for deletion and permanently purged within 24 hours. You can also delete any file manually at any time from your dashboard.
Are my files used to train AI models?
Private uploads are not used to train public models by default. No model-improvement opt-in control is available in the current implementation.
Do I need AI to use TooBig3D?
No! AI is completely optional. All features work without AI — you can slice, add pegs, export, etc. through the normal interface. AI just makes some tasks faster with natural language commands like “slice into 3 parts.”
What AI features are included?
All plans include: Natural language commands (“make it hollow”), AI help assistant (context-aware Q&A), Smart cut suggestions (geometry analysis), and Print settings advisor (material-specific recommendations).
What are "Wow" features?
Wow features are premium tools for advanced print prep: Ghost-Map HUD (live wireframe mini-view), Assembly Manual PDF (auto-generated instructions), Puzzle Keys (LEGO-style connectors), Anatomical Cut Suggestions (Beta, geometry-based suggestions you review before applying), Voice Director Mode (hands-free commands, Beta - browser-dependent), and Stress Simulator (heat map visualization).
What are Puzzle Keys?
Puzzle Keys are unique asymmetric connectors (like LEGO bricks) that only fit one way. Each connection has a distinct shape, which helps parts assemble the intended way. Useful for complex multi-part prints.
What's in the Assembly Manual PDF?
Auto-generated instructions like IKEA manuals! Includes: cover page with part count, numbered parts list with thumbnails, step-by-step visual assembly guide, connection close-ups, and material-specific tips. Print it or share digitally.
How does Voice Director Mode work? (Beta)
Speak commands naturally: “Slice this helmet for my X1 Carbon with puzzle keys” — the AI understands and executes multi-step operations. It uses the browser Web Speech API, so it requires a supported browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari). In unsupported browsers, the microphone button hides itself and typed commands work normally. It knows your saved printer profiles and can combine multiple actions in one command.
What are Simple and Advanced Modes?
Simple Mode uses AI-assisted commands -- describe what you want and review the AI suggestions before applying. Advanced Mode gives full manual control with tabbed interfaces for precise workflow management. Switch between modes instantly -- your project stays open in both.
